I am currently recruiting for Social Workers and Senior Social Workers for a safeguarding team (Child Protection / Children in Need) in Bracknell Forest Children’s Services. The successful Social Worker will have the ability to manage complex work within Care proceedings and Child Protection processes. Do you want to be part of an authority with an ‘Outstanding’ Ofsted? In October 2017 Bracknell adopted the Family Safeguarding Model, meaning the launch of inter-disciplinary teams making it even more possible to achieve effective interventions with families and improve children’s lives. More can be found on FSM here (https://www.bracknell-forest.gov.uk/jobs/childrens-social-care-jobs/family-safeguarding-model) but the key figure that makes it clear how effective it has been is the 37% reduction in CP since its adoption by Bracknell, and key focus on keeping children at home. This has probably been a great contributor to their ‘Outstanding’ Ofsted report.
The service prides itself on retention of social workers which they attribute widely to regular supervision (1 manager and assistant team manager for every 6 social workers) and their manageable caseloads of 15 children. The supervision comes in a variety of ways, including coaching sessions, brand new meeting rooms with big screens for reviewing work and an open door policy to management with all the teams sat in the same open plan office; the office certainly has a sociable buzz, but if you like quiet time to complete your reports remote working is also fully supported.
